LCM Kids Online Lesson 19: The Way I Look

The Big Idea
God made us all beautiful and special, but what He cares about the most, is our heart for Him.

Key Bible Verse

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”- 1 Samuel 16:7
(It would be good for parents to go through the bible verse with the kids before watching the Video Lesson, and have a little notebook or journal where children can copy down the verse/draw something related to it).

Craft: Magnifying Glass

What you will need is a cardstock paper (thick paper), a transparent plastic sheet (I got mine from the plastic bag). You also need a pair of scissors (careful with that!), a pink/red paper, some glue and colouring materials.

Firstly, grab your cardstock paper, and drawing out a large magnifying glass. If you are not sure, get an adult to help you with the drawing.

Once you have drawn, grab your scissors (make sure a grown up is there to help you), and cut out the magnifying glass you have drawn.

Now, with the scissors again, poke a hole through the middle of your circle on the magnifying glass (again, you probably need an adult to help you with this). Once the hole is there, I want you to cut through and cut out the inner circle.

So now you have a hole to look through! Next, I want you to grab glue, apply the glue around the circle rim of your magnifying glass. Then grab your plastic sheet and paste it down, covering the hole. Make sure you press it down firmly, so it sticks well.

Now that your plastic sheet is on, take your scissors and trim out the extra plastic sheet that is sticking out of the rim.

Take out your pink or red paper. I want you to draw on a small heart that will fit into your circle area on the magnifying glass. Then cut the heart shape out.

You are going to paste this heart on your plastic sheet area.

Finally, you can grab your colouring materials and design your magnifying glass! You can design around the rims or handles!

Alright, all done! This magnifying glass is to remind you that God holds a looking glass like this that looks only at your heart, and that is what matters the most!
