What Does The Bible Say About Homosexuality?

Introduction:

• <1 Cor 6:9-11>: Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (ESV).

1) Bad news – The unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, that includes the effeminate (“malakos” – refers to a man who acts like a woman who is soft, feminine), nor homosexuals (“arsenokoits” – refers to someone who has a relationship with the same sex). 

2) Good news – effeminate and homosexuals are redeemable. They can be saved! (The Corinth church has a handful of people who repented of these sins)

* Note also: LGBTs lifestyle is NOT a recent phenomenon.
Historical evidences: Socrates (Father of Western Philosopher), Plato (Father of Political Philosophy), Alexandra the Great (Great Conqueror and General of Macedonia) were all homosexuals.

* Homosexuality arises from an inner rebellion towards God the Creator and His Truth, both in the past and today.

* Homosexual is a result of man pursuing his own sovereignty, believing in what he thinks and feels as legitimate.

* Historical evidences: Julius Caesar’s lover was King Nicomedes. 14 out of the first 15 Caesars were homosexuals. The tyrant King Nero married a boy, Sporus!
“One of the major contributions to the fall of the Roman Empire was homosexuality” ~ Renowned Historian Gibbon and Toynbee

* Medical evidences: New HIV infections among men who have sex with men to be 9 times higher than among women and heterosexual men (Year 2000 clinical research from USA 5 major cities). Anal intercourse possibly 64 times more likely to transmit diseases than virginal intercourse.

Society point of view on Homosexuality?

Some background:

* 1881, Sigmund Freud (Austrian neurologist) theory on Sodomy – Caused by Domineering mother.

* 1930s, Havelock Ellis – Sodomy is hereditary. 

* 1950s, Alfred Kinsey (American biologist, also sex pervert) – Kinsey Report: One in ten persons are born sodomites.

* So which is which? Freud or Ellis theory?

* Society increasingly lean towards believing homosexual is a result of genetics.

* Yet most researches advocated by LGBT are biased.

The Only conclusive evidence – Homosexuality is a Choice

⟹  Starts from the choice to suppress the truth for gratification <Rn 1:18>. And one choice leads to another…

* On sex reconstruction (transgender), pls hear from Dr. Paul McHugh, the former chief of psychiatry department at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

⟹  “…10 to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reconstruction surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers.”

* Meaningful conclusion from the Bible and medical viewpoints: Not meant to condemn LGBTs, but to inform that anything that is unbiblical, when allowed to be normalized, will damn the health of individuals and society over time.

Dr. Milton Helpern, formerly chief medical examiner of New York City.”  In his biography titled Where Death Delights, Helpern – not a Christian – wrote this, “It’s not my role to condemn homosexuality as such, and I leave it to the psychiatrists and psychologists to try to figure out why people practice homosexuality.”  He said, “I’m not to judge it.  But having performed 60,000 autopsies, it is high time that those who deviate from the norms should understand the risks. I don’t know why it is so, but it seems that the violent explosions of jealousy among homosexuals far exceed those of the jealousy of a man for a woman, or a woman for a man. The pent-up charges and energy of the homosexual relationship simply cannot be contained. When the explosive point is reached, the result is brutally violent. From the brutal wounds of a victim, you can tell from a victim who suffered multiple wounds, homosexual victim and a homosexual attacker.”

Fair statement: We do not say all homosexuals are serial killers, or Pedophiles, or they have multiple sex partners… but it is definitely not God’s ordained relationship and it carries with it its negative consequences.

Conclusion

1. Keep ministering to the following 4 groups of people.

• Active LGBTs group
• Passive LGBTs group
• Neutral empathetic group
• Overcomer group

2. Nothing is more powerful than the truth. Keep listening to it, and let the Holy Spirit bring about transformation and healing.
