The Path Of Success VS Failure

The Path Of Success VS Failure

Pastor Vincent - 17 September 2015

Suffering In The Presence Of A Divine Relationship

"If we didn't choose Grace, we shouldn't choose our sufferings either. Yet believe that if we share in His sufferings, we will also share in His glory." - Pastor Vincent No one in suffering like the situation they are in, often we ask, "God do I deserve all these?" Why is there pain and suffering? Because of the presence of sin and evil, and the purpose of Satan is to inflict a sense of abandonment in God's children, and make us misunderstand the love of God. Like Job, our misery in suffering can be so overwhelming that we intensely protest against God, only to affirm the forsaken feeling even more and become an easier prey for Satan. And yet, what Satan meant for evil God use it for the good of His children, so that they will come to know He is the Giver of grace, righteousness, love and hope. Spiritual battle is indeed fighting against the voices of untruth and abandonment through the promise of God.

The Path Of Success VS Failure

“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death” <Prov 14:12>. How true this is! Nobody would ever deliberately choose a path of failure and destruction. However, often, it was those seemingly harmless and “inconsequential” decisions that set us on a direction towards a regretful end. Indeed, we face many decisions and choices everyday; and some choices can affect us for a lifetime. For someone who truly believes in God, the most important decision one can make, is to choose God, over and over again, despite trials and temptations in our earthly living. Our own best choices and efforts can lead to futility, but only what God promises and provides will endure. May God enable us to always choose right and choose Him!

Verses to Read: <Genesis 13:5-18>

1. The choice that leads to failure.

* Lot: Carnal Christians

  • Choose by own analysis (wisdom) and flesh.
  • Perspective different (opposite) from God.
  • Some decisions seem inconsequential, but set a certain (tragic) life direction.
  • Bad choices come with consequences.
  • How do we compare to Lot?

2. The choice that leads to success.

  • A choice based on faith.
    – Lot trusted own eyes; Abram trusted God.
    – Best/wisest choice: Choose God over good conditions.
  • Faith gives rise to simple heart.
  • Abram could make blessed choice because of his daily blessed living.
    – Prayer-centered living
  • Blessed choice >>> Blessed consequences.
