LCM Kids Online Lesson 16: What Is Heaven?

The Big Idea
Heaven is a place prepared for God’s children.

Key Bible Verse

“No one has ever seen this. No one has ever heard about it. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
(It would be good for parents to go through the bible verse with the kids before watching the Video Lesson, and have a little notebook or journal where children can copy down the verse/draw something related to it).

Believing And Forsaking

What gives you the ongoing stamina in this Christian race? Everyone wants to feel useful, be recognised and thrive in the world. When Christians do not follow the current of the world, we often feel the pressure of being “different”, or unfitting, so much so that it brews doubt in us about the practicality and worthiness of this Christian race we’re running in. Paradoxically, the world often seems so beautiful, believable and enjoyable before God destroys it. But through the stories between Abraham and Lot, God has a message for His people - don’t be afraid to jeopardize your worldly joy when you choose to set apart for God, because when you hold onto the promise of God by faith alone, your God who chose and gave you the promise will also sanctify and glorify you. We often find ourselves a partial Lot who lives by sight, but desiring to be Abraham who lives by faith. This is because we do not believe that God’s promise is more real and more beautiful than what we’re holding on, or our conditions just inhibit us to believe that God will truly make us the heir of the world, just as He told Abraham. Abraham wanted a son, but God gave him The Son. When he parted ways with Lot who was then the only hope he had, God revealed to him and strengthened him with His promise again when he had no hope in his earthly conditions, God was all he had. When we are encouraged by God’s promise alone, the faith we have will also lead us to infinite possibilities of God’s work in our life. Let’s receive a covenanted reason and direction in this Christian race today, God delights in us witnessing the trueness of His promise 🙂 — “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief!” - Mark 9:24

Craft: Paper Plate Shaker Drum

Today, we are going to make a Shaker Drum!

What do we need? Firstly, you need a paper plate. Then you need some things to design your paper plate like markers, stickers or even paint. Next, you will need some colourful paper strips (about 4 or 5 will do), a stapler, some tape and a spoonful of uncooked rice or beans!

So what we have to do now is to grab our paper plate, turn it over to the base and start decorating it anyway you want!

Second step, fold your paper plate into half and put the spoonful of uncooked rice or beans into your folded plate. Now be very careful not to spill.

Fold down your plate, grab your tape and start sealing around the sides of your folder paper plate so the uncooked rice or beans don’t come out. Voila! You have yourself a shaker now! But we are not quite done yet!

To make it even more fancy, we are going to get our colourful strips, you can design your strips if you want, like mine over here, I drew some patterns!

Then what you do is, get your stapler ready. And you will hold up your shaker, put one end of our coloured strip on the front side and the other end to the flip side. Hold it down with your fingers, and with another hand, grab your stapler and staple it down! (This step might be a little harder for our younger ones, so please please get a grown up to help you okay?) If you find stapling too hard or you do not have one, just use your tape to tape it down. That will do too. Alright, then continue doing so for the rest of your colour strips around the curved side of your shaker drum. Here we go! All done!

So why is this called a shaker drum? Because you can shake it (shake) or tap it like a drum in the middle (tap).
