LCM Kids Online Lesson 20: My Character

The Big Idea
Our character can serve God in different ways.

Key Bible Verse

“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.”- Jeremiah 31:3
(It would be good for parents to go through the bible verse with the kids before watching the Video Lesson, and have a little notebook or journal where children can copy down the verse/draw something related to it).

Knowing You Are Loved And Chosen In Christ

Do you have the assurance of being saved in Christ despite falling into weaknesses again and again? How do you know that you are loved and chosen by God? Simple it may seem, yet the message this week is fundamental to all believers to confirm if they are truly saved in Christ, and to understand the persevering salvation God has given to His children through His supreme grace. For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-6 NIV)

Craft activity: “Made By His Love” threading craft

Now let’s talk about the materials we need!

First, you will need a paper plate or card stock (thick) paper. A hole puncher, a marker.

Then you will also need a pair of scissors with a grown up to help you with the cutting.

And also, some yarn or string that you can find at home. Finally, grab some markers or colour pencils. Once you have all that ready, we can start!

The first step is to use your marker to draw out a big heart shape on your paper plate or cardstock paper.

Once done, use your scissors to cut out the heart shape.

Next, grab your hole puncher, and we are going to punch holes all around the edge of your heart shape. And for each hole, try to leave some space in between. If you want to have an easier threading later, then make your hole further apart. If you want something more challenging, then punch the holes closer to each other. Now if you do not have hole puncher, you can also use a pencil to poke the holes through your paper.

Alright so now that you have your holes, bring out your yarn or string, cut out a long string, about the length of your whole arm to your finger tips. With that, you are going to thread it through the holes on your heart shape. So how do you do it? Firstly, you try to thread the string through the first hole. Then pull it through and go straight through the next hole. Then pull it and from below, thread it through the third hole and continue doing so for the rest of the holes around the plate. So it is just going in and out as you tug the string.

Once you have made one full round of threading, tie a knot for the ends of your string and cut off any extra string. Your heart is now nicely threaded!

For the last step, get creative and decorate your heart! Take out your markers or colour pencils and start designing the white portion of your heart. Go ahead!
