God Confused The Proud

God Confused The Proud

Respond In Faith To God's Faithfulness

From the beginning of the world, God has always been faithful to His promises. He gave the promise of Emmanuel, and He that has a plan for His children. Even when we are weak and fall short of His glory, all the times, God never forget His plan for His children, and He give us grace to be able to respond to Him in faith. Draw strength from Him and remove the Canaanites in your life now so that you can go into total obedience to God. How do you know you have faith in God? It is when you trust God and Obey Him to the end.

God Confused The Proud

Have you ever been played out by your pride before? Pride told you that everything is manageable without God, you are fine on your own, but things didn’t turn out as expected, disappointments set in, the very outcome you tried to avoid became reality. Pride is always associated with folly. Pride made humans feel that God is unnecessary and optional. Yet, pride is one horrible sin in God’s eyes and He frustrates the plans of the proud. Let us always remember the wise and true words in <Psalm 127:1>:
“Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.”

Verses To Read:

<Genesis 11: 1-9>

1. Humanism

1) Human-centred, Human-driven

2) The culture of Babel is “Humanism”.

3) Hidden within Humanism is PRIDE

  • City: Security, comfort
  • Tower: Pride

2. Human plan VS God’s plan.

1) God’s intervention >> Turning point <v5>.

2) God frustrates the plans of the proud…easily.

  • Godlessness is folly.

3) Result of being irreverent: Confusion.

3. Do not be influenced by the Babel culture.

1) Be united for the right reasons.

  • For Gospel: ?
  • Oppose God: ?

*Disunited without God; united in Christ.
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” <Gal 3:28>.

2) Be set apart from the Babel culture.

Reflection:

  • Despite being a Christian, is it easy for you to become humanistic again? Why do you tend to be more human-driven rather than God-driven? Usually, when are you more prone to become humanistic?
  • Had God ever, and how did He, intervene in your life when pride is lurking? How had God ever tamed your pride?
